It’s been a very busy summer so far for Jaded Dragon Studios. We’ve been working hard on projects as well as preparing for FanExpo this August. We’re also excited to announce that we will be attending the Big on Bloor Festival this year! Click on their logo below to visit their website.
On Saturday, July 23rd you can find us set up downtown with hundreds of other vendors for what we hope will be a great experience! We’re excited to participate in another event this summer and hope to see you all there!

2011 is looking great already for JDS! We are going full steam on all our projects and are gearing up for Fanexpo (they’ve added an extra day this year!) as well as planning our own exhibition and sale for late Spring!
Paul has hooked up with an old friend in Vancouver and together they are taking on a 3 issue comic that will be available online. Very cool stuff indeed.
Also, Paul is beginning work on his pet project: Wolfsbane and he plans to have the first book finished later this year! Lara is pumping out more sculptures for the upcoming shows and they are looking as awesome as ever!!

Indie game: Salad Time!
We are meeting on a weekly basis with our programming guru, Xave to flesh out our first foray into the independant game scene. We are very excited about trying our hand at this end of the visual industry. Here is some of the concept art floating around. Enjoy!

Paul is completing three finished illstrations for a children’s book which will be used by the author to help shop her manuscript around to some publishers. Here is the finished cover illustration:
In other news we are in the process of having our artwork and merchandise for sale in two stores. Also we are on the cusp of finishing our own online store!

Last week I told everybody I wanted to share some cool things
that are happening at Jaded Dragon.
Well I am allowed to let you in on two of the amazing things that we are working on.
#1 Video Games!!!!
That’s right!!!! We are working on the artwork and stories for 3 different video games
that will be on Xbox Live.
With the help of our friend Dave Van Herten
(and a few others) we will be binging some fun/crazy and engaging video games to life!
We are thrilled to be working with Dave and will let you know more as we are able to talk about it.
The second is Pablo has been commissioned to illustrate a children’s book.
it looks amazing and the author hopes this will give her the edge to get published!
We are just so thrilled.

Well after all the craziness and frantic planning and seemingly endless preparation,
Fan Expo is finally finished for another year and I am happy to say we did better than last year!
Despite mismanagement on the part of the shows organizers.
Just imagine our success if it had been run properly.
Either way everyone seemed in better spirits once inside. We had a great time! Thank you to everyone who made it through the line-ups and lock downs to support some of the coolest genres in the world and us!

First day at Fan Expo was awesome. Lots of great costumes and really cool people.
One of the most exciting things being return customers remembering us from last year. Even people who just browsed in 2009 were remembering our artwork. So this is a good sign that our images have staying power.
Unfortunately, none of our graphic novels made it to the table in a sellable form. Our plans for ebook versions did not pan out in time for the show. However we are making progress to having copies printed (on real paper!).
We will be posting pics and other media immediately following the show so stay tuned!
