Giant Link Sculpture, Fan Expo and Wolfsbane, Oh my!

Gearing up for Fan Expo and finishing projects is taking up most of our time right now so we apologize for the slight lack of updates. We still have exciting news so far though.


Lara has begun work on one of her biggest projects yet. A huge sculpture of Link from the Zelda games! Presently with sword in hand this creation passes 6 foot! We are showing some of the process in a photo album on our Facebook page. Use this link or the photo to visit and check out how her amazing sculptures come to life!




    • Secondly, the inks for Wolfsbane are finally complete! Paul is now working on the colours for this project. Here is one of the finished coloured pages. Click on the image to see a larger version.

    We will have many cool new things at Fan Expo. We will have several new designs, Lara’s Red Shirts (which made their debut at Art-o-Con) and the third installment of Zombies vs Schoolgirls, to be illustrated by our current co-op student from Sheridan College. She will be at our table too so be sure to check out all her hard work in August!

    So all in all we are very excited and cannot wait to exhibit for our fourth year at Fan Expo and we hope to see you there!

Fan Expo was Amazing; Beware of Frog sold out!!

Fan Expo a huge success.

WOW! After four days of hard work and endless talking we have returned home with significantly less stock and even less of our voices. It was great meeting so many cool and interesting people from all parts of the industry! We were amazed at how many return customers we had from previous years. Thank you to everyone who helped make this the best Fan Expo yet!

Lara has finally finished the monumentous task of wading through our vast collection of photos to post them on our Facebook page. Hopefully you are in there! Please go forth and tag yourself and your friends so that everyone knows they are true fans!

Beware of Frog sold out.

Just as exciting was the sale of our final book! The first printing of Beware of Frog is now officially gone. Every copy we printed has found a home to love it. We are overjoyed! It took three weeks to sell 100 copies. This exceeded even our highest expectations! We are now arranging for a second printing and hope to have more copies available by October. For those of you who have pre-ordered be patient the Frog is coming!

Thank you again to everyone, your support has been astounding and as always greatly appreciated.

Fan Expo 2010 huge success for JDS

Well after all the craziness and frantic planning and seemingly endless preparation,
Fan Expo is finally finished for another year and I am happy to say we did better than last year!
Despite mismanagement on the part of the shows organizers.
Just imagine our success if it had been run properly.
Either way everyone seemed in better spirits once inside. We had a great time! Thank you to everyone who made it through the line-ups and lock downs to support some of the coolest genres in the world and us!

First day at Fan Expo

First day at Fan Expo was awesome. Lots of great costumes and really cool people.

One of the most exciting things being return customers remembering us from last year. Even people who just browsed in 2009 were remembering our artwork. So this is a good sign that our images have staying power.

Unfortunately, none of our graphic novels made it to the table in a sellable form. Our plans for ebook versions did not pan out in time for the show. However we are making progress to having copies printed (on real paper!).

We will be posting pics and other media immediately following the show so stay tuned!

Jaded Dragon Studios goes to Fan Expo 2010 !!

Come check us out at the 2010 Fan Expo. We have 18 feet of table space this year and a bunch of new amazing art!!!! Last year’s co-op student, Heather and our current co-op, Suzanne will be there displaying their awesome art as well!

We will have many new designs this year for our postcards, greeting cards, bookmarks and large prints. Lara’s sculpture will also feature new pieces such as monsters-on-a-stick and Zombies vs Schoolgirls! We will be selling digital copies of three of our graphic novels; Beware of Frog, The last Son and Space Monkeys. For more information about these projects and others visit our projects page.

And for all you X-men out there, Stan ‘the man’ Lee is going to be there along with hundreds of other great guests from all corners of the industry. We hope to see you there!!
